TechSmart is a Seattle, WA based EdTech company that empowers teachers to reach all students with coding & computer science. We believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn to code and make their mark on the world, regardless of their race, gender, socioeconomic background, or language. We partner with school districts to provide Teacher Coding Bootcamps, a K-12 Curriculum Pathway, and a cloud-based Teaching & Learning Platform.

At the center of it all, our Teacher Success Team impacts tens of thousands of teachers and students around the country. As a pre-apprenticeship intern, you will learn to code and participate in our Teacher Coding Bootcamps, helping transform teachers of any subject into knowledgeable and confident coding educators. You will also support operational and communications tasks to help the team ensure that teachers have what they need to support their students.

Pre-Apprenticeship Intern

We are looking for a driven student to join our passionate team and help invent the future of K-12 Coding education. The ideal candidate has an interest in learning how to code. They will also have a growth mindset, a friendly personality, empathy for others, and excellent verbal communication skills. This role strikes a balance between learning how to code and communication tasks.

You will be responsible for...

  • Working with your mentor to support our teacher coding bootcamp operations
  • QA (quality assurance) tasks as needed, with guidance
  • Helping to facilitate remote live trainings with people from around the country

This is a 5-10 hour per week remote pre-apprenticeship intern position. We will work with students to ensure that they have the necessary IT equipment needed to do this role from home.

Join our dynamic, rapidly growing team!

  • This is a 5-10 hour/week role. We ask students to commit to join us on a reliable weekly schedule. In return, you will gain tech startup industry experience, build your professional network, learn how to code in Python, and receive letters of recommendation from our staff. If your school grants internship credit, we will also work with your school to grant high school credit wherever possible.

Fall 2021 Cohort

  • The Fall pre-apprenticeship program starts on September 7th, 2021 and runs for 12 weeks.
  • Applications will be accepted until September 1st or all pre-apprenticeship seats are filled.

Winter 2022 Cohort

  • The Winter pre-apprenticeship program starts on January 10th, 2022 and runs for 12 weeks.
  • Applications will be accepted until October 31st or until all pre-apprenticeship seats are filled.
